Frederick University

Frederick University is a leading private university operating in the Republic of Cyprus. The organization has been serving higher education for more than five decades. However, it has only relatively recently obtained the university status, being among the first private universities to be granted such license in Cyprus in 2007, after a relevant Law allowing for the establishment of private universities was passed in 2006. Today Frederick University is organized into 5 Schools and 12 Departments that offer more than 80 programs of study, covering a wide range of academic disciplines including Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, Education and the Arts. It has also developed a modern, innovative educational framework to offer quality distance learning programs based on international standards. It is the only University in Cyprus that operates in two cities, Nicosia and Limassol. It is proud to be home to a talented, energetic and diverse academic community that is driven by a student-centric approach and a spirit of service to the public good. Nationally, the University is accredited by the Cyprus Quality Assurance Agency and also enjoys international recognition both by academic and professional bodies. Being a reputable research institution of international standards, the University also has a strong focus on academic research and innovation and maintains strong links and collaborations with other European and international universities. Over the last decade, state-of-the-art laboratories have been developed in all research areas of the University, many of which excel and stand out internationally. Currently there are 43 active research teams and, in the last decade, more than 200 research projects have been successfully completed. Part is the University’s strategy and daily operation is the contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations. The University is a member of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network through which it connects with other sustainable development experts and collaborates with them on research, solutions initiatives, and policy work. In addition, it is one of the founding members of the Cyprus branch of the Sustainable Solutions Network.
