About Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy
Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy prepares ethically grounded leaders to tackle the complex issues of today and inspire the leaders of tomorrow. Rooted in Georgetown's Jesuit tradition of service to the common good, McCourt is a community of global citizens conducting policy-relevant research and building bridges between that work and the communities it serves.
The school traces its origins to 1980, growing out of Georgetown's Department of Government and Economics before becoming the Georgetown Public Policy Institute in 1996. In October 2013, a transformative $100 million gift from alumnus Frank H. McCourt, Jr. established it as Georgetown's ninth school, now bearing his name. In summer 2024, the school moved to a new home at 125 E Street NW, uniting its community on Georgetown's Capitol Campus for the first time under one roof — steps from the U.S. Capitol, federal agencies, think tanks, and international organizations.
McCourt offers a Master of Public Policy, a Master of Science in Data Science for Public Policy, a Master of International Development Policy, a Master of Policy Management, an Executive Master of Policy Leadership, a PhD in Public Policy, and an undergraduate major, alongside a range of research centers including the Center for Education and the Workforce and the Health Policy Institute.
Faculty and students take an evidence-based, cross-disciplinary approach to challenges from economic growth to healthcare, education, and climate change, learning to engage constructively across differences and perspectives. With its location placing students at the center of the policy world, McCourt serves as an incubator of bold new ideas to solve today's most pressing policy challenges.
