University information

Students can either complete our application form or apply through one of our approved overseas representatives . Our International Admissions team will then work to deliver a fair and accurate decision on your application. If you have any questions, or need any support, please don't hesitate to get in touch with an in country representative , who will be happy to support you on your journey to Herts, or by contacting our Interational team.

Our 125-acre green campus is in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, 25 minutes by train to Central London , giving you easy access to the UK capital with a supportive campus base to call your home.

 

Our campus has everything you need to settle into student life, from our 24/7 Learning Resources Centres to allow you to conduct private study at a time that suits you, on campus accommodation so you can save time and money on commuting, a wealth of support services and clubs to help you keep active and make friends outside of class.

 

In September 2024, we opened Spectra, our new School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science, and in 2026 we plan to our open our new  Hertfordshire Medical School at our College Lane campus.

 

We have a wide range of facilities to allow our students to engage with learning in ways that offer so much more than just lectures in a classroom. From our mock law court, specialist laboratories, Clinical Simulation Centre and more, many of our courses also have a placement option, giving you that hands-on experience to make you stand out from the crowd.

 

We have two campuses located in Hatfield; College Lane and de Havilland. Both locations include Ask Herts Hubs, your one-stop-shop for support services, sports facilities and food and beverage outlets. Our two vibrant campuses are linked by a free five-minute shuttle bus, making it easy to explore what both our campuses have to offer.

 

To benefit our students who want to pursue a career in astrophysics and to support the exceptional teaching and research facilities at our Bayfordbury Observatory, we are proud to have one of the largest telescopes available to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the UK. There are only two other telescopes like this in the UK available for student use.

Flare competition
Our enterprise ideas challenge, Flare, is a highly competitive annual competition that gives Herts student and alumni entrepreneurs the support and training they need to bring their business ideas to life, no matter how far along they are in development.

Entrants can test their concepts in a safe and constructive environment, taking home individual cash prizes of up to £3000 across seven categories. Winners are announced at an energising awards ceremony, where finalists have a chance to connect with other business owners, investors and our generous sponsors.

Funding and financial aid

There are several funding routes available to help cover your annual tuition fees, including loans and scholarships. You can check the fees for your course on the fees and funding tab on each individual course page.

 

We understand that university is an important investment, and we're dedicated to ensuring financial concerns don't stop you enjoying your time as a student. International students can access emergency aid through the Overseas Emergency Financial Aid (OEFA) programme, where they can receive discretionary financial assistance.


Scholarships

Scholarships and bursaries can further support  the cost of university – these don’t need to be  paid back. We have invested hundreds of thousands of pounds in scholarships for high achieving and enterprising students from around the world. We look for enterprising and aspirational students who want to excel in an international university.

Careers Services

Having a part time job alongside your studies not only helps you financially, but it can also help you build your CV and confidence. The University offers lots of part-time and casual employment opportunities for current students which are advertised on the University's bespoke careers portal, Handshake. Whether you are interested in working in retail, catering or in a professional role within the University, there are plenty of opportunities to choose from.

Student Ambassadors

A popular choice for many students is becoming a Student Ambassador due to the flexible working hours and opportunities to get involved with a wide range of events and activities, including Open Days and UCAS Fairs. A Student Ambassadors' primary role is to help promote the University and student life to prospective students.

Frequently Asked Questions

Applications can be made via the international application form or through our in-country representatives . Undergraduate applications can also be made via  UCAS.

We accept a range of English language qualifications from various countries. Our standard entry requirements can be viewed on our application requirements webpage. Country specific English language tests that we accept will be displayed on our regional guidance webpages.


Some programmes may only accept IELTS for entry. If this applies to the course you are interested in, this will be confirmed on the course page and any offer we provide.
