Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (Deemed to be University)  is a prestigious Deemed University located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, and offers a wide spectrum of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Research and Doctoral Programmes. It has successfully implemented 5S Workplace Management. Aerospace laboratories in HITS are well-equipped and include Supersonic Wind Tunnel, Subsonic Wind Tunnel, Propulsion Testing Laboratories, Flight Simulator and Aviation equipment, giving a complete learning experience. HITS has established collaborations with Institutes and Industries for internships, training, student exchanges and placements. Royal Enfield’s state-of-the-art National Experiential Training Centre provides first-hand RE two-wheeler training. The campus also has an advanced ALSIM AL250 Multi-Engine & Single Engine Aircraft Simulator for flight simulation training. HITS’ curriculum is based on industry requirements, and also offers UG degrees in Optometry and Pharmacy. HITS and Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC), France offer an advanced program in ‘Aviation Safety Management’. HITS’s MoU's with institutions including Global Hospitals (Now Gleneagles Health City) gives internships to Allied Health Science students. HITS’ curriculum unleashes students’ potential and programs are structured on outcome-based education (OBE), choice-based credit systems, providing the right synergy of industry-relevant knowledge and skills. As a part of blended learning, an UGC approved center for online education (CODE) has catered  to more than 3,000 students. Royal Enfield’s National Experiential Training Centre offers hands on learning for RE network and students  have access to the latest in motorcycle technology. QS I-GAUGE has awarded HITS the esteemed Diamond Band, affirming its high standards across key quality parameters. In the QS Asia University Rankings 2024, HITS has been placed in the 751–800 band in Asia and secured an impressive 238th position in Southern Asia, showcasing its growing regional impact.

 HITS is ranked 501–600 in the World Young University Rankings and 601+ in the Asia University Rankings, reflecting its growing prominence in higher education across the region. In the THE Impact Rankings, HITS secured a position in the 601–800 band globally. Notably, HITS achieved a ranking of 78 in SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), 301–400 in SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy),  101–200 in SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), underscoring its commitment to sustainability.

In the THE World University Rankings (WUR), HITS is placed in the 1501+ band, competing among 2,152 universities from 125 countries worldwide. In subject-specific rankings, HITS earned positions in the 801–1000 band for Physical Sciences, Computer Science,  1001+ for Engineering, reflecting the university's strength in core academic disciplines and its dedication to research and innovation. Further, Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Ranking 2024 by R World Institutional Ranking  placed HITS in the  Platinum Band. On the national front, the India Today-MDRA Survey 2024 ranked HITS 4th among private technical universities offering postgraduate programs, and 16th among the top architecture colleges.
