About Imam Ja'afar Al-Sadiq University

Imam Ja'afar Al-Sadiq University was established in 2004 by the provisions of Law No. 13, Article 1 of 1996, under the Council of Ministers Resolution No. (10/1/32166) for the year 2004 after fulfilling the basic requirements stipulated by the Law of Colleges and Universities No. 13 of 1996 Amendment 2. The university obtained the recognition of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under the book number C / 1621 on 4/5/2004. Imam Ja'afar Al-Sadiq University was accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in 2008.


The university started with three faculties in its main location in Baghdad city and two alternative locations in the governorates of Najaf and Maysan. It began to perform its mission by providing governmental departments, and its official institutions with scientific and practical staff who are scientifically qualified to contribute in supporting the scientific and development process in the country. Since its establishment and to date, Imam Ja'afar Al-Sadiq University has paid great attention to meeting the requirements of development and sustainability plans by renewing the buildings in all of its branches to improve the resources and services provided to the students, staff, and visitors. 


Today, after ten years of hard work, and continuous efforts, a new branches of the university have been established and completed in seven sites distributed in seven cities in Iraq, including Kirkuk, Najaf, Thi Qar, Salah al-Din, Diyala, Muthanna, and Maysan city.


Imam Ja'afar Al-Sadiq  University is one of the largest private universities and most attractive in Iraq. All the university's branches are located in extensive greenery and close to the city center. The university consists of around 17 departments (e.g., computer techniques engineering, communication techniques engineering, computer technology engineering, analytical techniques, law, business management, English language, Clinical Psychology, Medical Laboratory Techniques, etc.) distributed in five main colleges, such (Law, Information Technology, Management, Medical Laboratory Techniques, and Literatures). Imam Ja'afar Al-Sadiq University is promoting "openness, diversity, integrity, and academic freedom". It also proclaims a vision of becoming "a distinguished scientific institution with a high level of education and scientific research and the best chance for students and researchers to meet the demands of the local and international labor markets”.
