Located in the heart of Hautes-de-France, in the city of Lille, IMT Nord Europe is one of 11 engineering and management schools which form the Institut Mines-Télécom.

Available programs

IMT Nord Europe 2-year master’s programmes mix Science, Engineering, Technology, Management, Business and Communication. They are the best springboard to launch a successful international career in the industry or a research centre.

These high quality master’s degrees benefit from the institution’s research expertise and its close links with the business community. IMT Nord Europe trains the executives and researchers that the world needs to take up tomorrow’s challenges.

Totally taught in English, our master’s students study in an international environment in France, with classmates and professors coming from all around the world.

Students will study two semesters in IMT Nord Europe campus of Douai, one semester takes place in IMT Business School campus in Evry, south of Paris region. The last semester is the final-year thesis project and will consist of a paid-internship in a company or research department.

University information

There are three varied programmes, each with its own joining policy: 

  1. The academic exchange programme - open to students studying at universities that have an exchange agreement with IMT Nord Europe. 

If you are selected by your home university, you will be able to spend a semester at IMT Nord Europe choosing courses at your own leisure. Registration fees will be paid at your home university, which validates IMT Norde Europe courses.

  1.  The degree programme – a five-year study that you can join after completing high school. You are awarded an engineering diploma from IMT Nord Europe after five years of studies. 

Plus, IMT Nord Europe offers the Graduate programme (two years) for those with undergraduate degrees who wish to pursue a master's degree in engineering. 

As a result, admission is handled by IMT Nord Europe. Qualifying candidates are interviewed and selected based on their qualifications. Find out more. 

  1. The dual degree programme – aimed at the national diplomas of both countries. 

A dual degree experience opens minds, promotes flexible thinking and innovation, all of which are essential in international engineering thinking processes. Training on this course provides interesting career and salary opportunities – giving students an understanding of the language of the partner country as well as the ability to develop cross-cultural skills. 

However, the mobility scheme differs from partner institution to partner institution, and IMT Norde Europe students must attend the same classes. 

Also, a Double Degree can only be applied for if your home institution has signed a Double Degree Agreement (DD) with IMT Nord Europe.

Student life

Not only will students learn to become high quality professionals in their chosen careers but can enjoy the student experience from one of three campuses in Villeneuve d’Ascq and Douai: 

The MDE, ‘Maison des Elèves’, (located at the heart of the Douai campus) has 596 rooms available, offering all-round dining, studying, socialising and relaxing opportunities across three sites: 

The Lavoisier Residence – comprised of 89 shared-shower rooms and 144 studio rooms.

The Descartes Residence – comprised of 174 individual rooms. 

The Condorcet Residence – comprised of 189 individual rooms. 

At the Douai site, you have access to a self-service canteen located in the Lavoisier residence halls for breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the week. You will be served fresh and locally sourced food 5 days a week for €160 per month. 

The Lille site has access to several restaurants and cafés on the University of Lille campus such as R.U. le Sully, R.U. Flers, Flores Café and R.U. Chatillon, R.U. Chatelet. 

Moreover, student life and leisure options are endless – the region has an exceptional architectural and cultural heritage. With 15 museums, Lille is the benchmark in this area, featuring the Palais des Beaux-Arts (the second most important outside Paris), La Piscine Museum Roubaix, Louvre-Lens and more. 

Party culture is also a part of the DNA of the city's inhabitants, as shown by the famous Braderie de Lille, the Main Square Festival for antique lovers, the Dunkirk Carnival and the Lille 3000 festivities. 

With 27 disciplines at IMT Nord Europe, all engineering students are required to do half a day of sports per week – a great way to stay healthy. With activities managed by the Bureau des Sports (BDS) [Sports Office], you're sure to find something you love.

Each training course pays significant attention to professional experience. This allows students to develop the necessary skills, professional network and knowledge to apply their learning in the real world. In addition, they can gain a better understanding of the industry they are entering. During compulsory work placement every year, students will be able to put all the knowledge gained at IMT Nord Europe into practice. 

International study:

International experience is also included in the course offerings - providing students with the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a variety of cultures and locations, which can benefit career development. It also imparts an understanding of the global market and the ability to adapt to diverse working environments. 

Involvement of stakeholders while training:

IMT Nord Europe students have an active role in their learning process and are encouraged to take ownership of their own development. This is done through personalised learning plans, mentorship opportunities and workshops. University teams are equipped to provide the best support as learners make professional choices throughout the course. 

Student from Institut Mines-Télécom schools are permitted to study abroad for six months and study a topic not available on their campus, while remaining graduates from their home school. 

Two libraries are available to students at IMT Nord Europe: Lille Campus' Library and Douai Campus' Library – assuring a wide variety of resources for students to make use of during their studies – they feature comfortable study spaces, computer access and staff assistance.
