Institut Ilmu Kesehatan Bhakti Wiyata (IIK Bhakta)

Institut Ilmu Kesehatan Bhakti Wiyata (IIK Bhakta) is a health sciences institution based in Kediri, East Java, Indonesia. Established in 1985, IIK Bhakta has more than four decades of experience in health-focused education. In 2017, IIK Bhakta was officially recognized by the Museum of Indonesian World Records (MURI) as the first health sciences institute in Indonesia, reflecting its longstanding specialization in health sciences education.

Today, IIK Bhakta has five faculties offering 25 study programs across diploma, undergraduate, professional, and master’s levels. Its academic portfolio covers medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, midwifery, nutrition, physiotherapy, psychology, public health, health administration, medical laboratory technology, medical records and health information, traditional Chinese medicine, pharmaceutical and food analysis, and other health-related disciplines.

IIK Bhakta integrates academic learning with practical and professional experiences. Its study programs establish partnerships with healthcare providers and industry, including hospitals, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, pharmacy networks, medical laboratories, and clinics. These partnerships provide students with opportunities to develop practical competencies and gain exposure to professional environments relevant to their fields.

The institution is supported by extensive learning and practice infrastructure, including 63 laboratories and healthcare facilities that support education, practical training, and professional development. IIK Bhakta continues to develop its academic environment and infrastructure in response to advances in healthcare, science, and technology.

Quality assurance is central to IIK Bhakta’s institutional development. The institution holds “Unggul” (Excellent) institutional accreditation, the highest level within Indonesia’s national higher education accreditation system. Four of its 25 study programs have also achieved “Unggul” accreditation, demonstrating its commitment to continuous academic quality improvement.

International engagement is an important part of IIK Bhakta’s development. The institution collaborates with international universities and organizations to support educational quality improvement, joint research, student and faculty exchanges, curriculum development informed by global needs, and the strengthening of graduate competitiveness at national and international levels.

Over more than four decades, IIK Bhakta has produced more than 18,500 alumni who contribute as health professionals across various healthcare sectors, including in countries across Asia. Graduate employability is also an important institutional outcome. Based on institutional graduate tracking data, 99% of graduates obtain employment within six months of graduation, demonstrating the relevance of its health-focused education to workforce needs.
