The International Hellenic University (IHU) was first established by Law in October 2005 and was based in Thessaloniki, Greece. It was Greece’s first public university where programmes were taught exclusively in English. In 2019, IHU was re-established by Law, according to which, the initial IHU was merged with three Technological Education Institutes:
a) The “Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki”
b) The “Technological Educational Institute of Central Macedonia” and
c) The “Technological Educational Institute of East Macedonia and Thrace”.
The University offers 30 Bachelor Programmes and 52 Master Programmes, the 23 of which are taught in English. It is now home
to 9 different Schools comprising 32 Departments with campuses at 7 different cities in Northern Greece (Thessaloniki (Thermi ad Sindos), Kavala, Serres, Drama, Katerini, Edessa, Kilkis and Didymoteicho). It has about 53.000 undergraduate students and approximately 3.000 postgraduate students.
It boasts 23 Master programs taught exclusively in English attracting international students from all over Europe as well as Greek students who wish to broaden their horizons receiving international education at a reasonable cost. With a wide range of subjects ranging from more traditional studies such as engineering and economics to modern studies such as Cybersecurity and Strategic Product Design, IHU offers something for everyone.
