The International University of Grand-Bassam (IUGB) is an independent institution offering an American-style curriculum in English. IUGB opened in 2005 and was formally accredited as a University in Côte d’Ivoire, by the promulgation of Decree n° 2007-477 on 16 May 2007.

IUGB offers Bachelor degree programs in the School of Business and Social Sciences and in the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. In addition, students have the option to carry out study abroad programs. Our Undergraduate Preparatory Program prepares students for university-level work through courses in English, technology and mathematics.

IUGB distinguishes itself by the diversity of its faculty body most of whom have been trained in English speaking countries and hired at the international level based on rigorous criteria. The University counts 33 full-time (47% international from 10 countries) and 57 part-time faculty members. The proportion of faculty holding terminal degrees in schools is 66%.

Students

The University counts 812 students, 13% of whom are coming from 20 countries and 42% are female. They are taking courses in small-size classes (less than 30per class). The student to faculty ratio is 15 to 1.

Academic Calendar

  • Fall (Sep.-Dec.) and Spring (Jan.-May) semesters: 15 weeks each.
  • Summer session (May-June): 8 weeks.

Grading System

Letter grades with points between 4.3 (A+) and 0 (F). Minimum score of 71 ITP to enter the freshman level.
