Islamic University of Gaza

-           Founded in 1978 by a group of notable public figures as the first university in Gaza to offer generations of young Palestinian’s access to quality higher education inside Palestine.

-           IUG is an independent academic institution supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education and managed by a board of trustees composed of experienced professionals in different fields.

-           Started with only three faculties and now has 11 faculties offering BA. B.Sc., MA, M.Sc., PhD, Diploma and higher diploma in Medicine, Engineering, IT, Health Sciences, Science, Arts, Education, Nursing, Business, Shari’a and Law and Osool Deen.

-           IUG as more than 170 PhD & MSc full-timers from British, American & German universities. And more than 170 PhD & MSc full-timers from Arab, Turkish, Malaysian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indian & Canadian, Australian universities.

-           IUG provides education in a well-equipped academic environment that facilitates higher education to 17,000 students (62% females) including physically, visually and hearing disabled students and community members.

-           IUG offers lifelong and capacity building programmes in many fields related to the local community needs.

-           Approximately 60,000 students graduated from IUG working in many fields of life. Memberships :

Partnerships

-           IUG has coordinated three EU-funded Erasmus+ projects under Erasmus plus program - KA2 Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education (CBHE). These projects are:

o    "Develop Business and Economic Research Centers Capacity at Palestinian Higher Education Institutions"(BERC)2015-2018 

o    "Research Output Management through Open Access Institutional Repositories in Palestinian Higher Education"(ROMOR) 2016-2019 

o    “Reinforcing access to cross border employment at Palestinian higher education institutions – (REACH) 2019-2022, 

-           IUG was the leader for a pioneering project titled: Strengthening Higher Education Capacities in Palestine for Gender Equalities" SHE-GE funded by Appear programme in collaboration with University of Graz, Austria

-           Currently, IUG has project partnerships with more than 100 European universities and research centers located in 21 EU countries as part of participation in 30 EU-funded multilateral and bilateral programmes including Erasmus+, Al Mqadisi (France), Appear (Austria), HEI ICI (Finland) NORPART (Norway), Nuffic (Netherlands) CLOCs (Swiss) and British Academy (UK).

-           IUG has also partnerships with more than 66 Palestinian and Arab universities located in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Tunisia.
