About Izmir Katip Celebi University
Izmir Kâtip Celebi University composed of 10 faculties, 3 institutes and 1 school of foreign language was established on the date of 21.07.2010. The university’s rectorship started to offer service at Izmir Ataturk Education and Research Hospital since 10.12.2010 and then continued to offer service at Additional Service Building of Cigli Municipality on April 2011. On September 2011, it moved to Cigli Main Campus at Balatcik District. Founded as the fourth state university in Izmir, IKCU was named after the 17th century Ottoman scientist Kâtip Celebi. IKCU admitted the first students in the academic year of 2011-2012. Now, the university has 13 faculties, 3 institutes, 1 school of foreign language, 1 vocational high school, 21 application and research centers, and 7 coordinatorships. IKCU carries out the activities in two different campuses. Besides the Cigli central campus, there is a central campus at Aydınlıkevler, Cigli. Prof. Dr. Saffet Köse was appointed to the university’s rectorship on 09.04.2018.
