Education of Global Engineers Kogakuin University aims to foster engineers who are capable of playing an active part in the increasingly global atmosphere that engineering has been moving towards. Fundamental and professional engineering knowledge, language/linguistic skills, international communication and inter-cultural understanding, and creativity and management talents will be extremely important for future engineers. With this in mind, Kogakuin University has developed a course of study with the aim of producing highly capable engineers who will be able to contribute to the field of engineering on a global scale. A History of 137 years and more than 100,000 graduates Kogakuin University is proud of its 137 year tradition of producing highly trained professionals and researchers. More than 100,000 graduates have played and are playing important roles in various areas of society. About 160 laboratories The courses offered by Kogakuin University cover a wide range from state of the art technology to recent theoretical developments in the humanities. 144 laboratories offer our students a wide range of research opportunities. Unique Education Methods An important aspect of Kogakuin University is its strong connection to and collaboration with leading industries. Among the many courses that the Global Engineering Department operates, the Engineering Clinic Program (ECP) has garnered special praise for its ?living education? format. Other novel ideas such as the improvement of intravenous devises and the ?design of new side-mirrors? (a part of the ECP theme) have received positive evaluation from leaders in their respective industries. Accreditations ? Japanese University Accreditation Association (JUAA) With its adherence to a high quality of education and research, Kogakuin University is a member in good standing of the Japanese University Accreditation Association. ? Environmental Management In accordance with our objectives to materialize a sustainable society, our environmental management system was conferred with ISO14001 certification. ? Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (JABEE) Through professional examination, one of our programs, ?The Global Engineering Program? has achieved accreditation as a program meeting the highest criteria of international engineering education. Dual Structure We are aiming at a fusion of pioneering concepts and universal human values through our dual structure. Shinjuku Campus Our Shinjuku campus exemplifies an urban university in the continually developing metropolis of Tokyo. Kogakuin University's Shinjuku Technology Campus, or ?S-Tech,? lies in the center of Shinjuku-New Metropolis. The main building is regarded as an ?intelligent campus,? with the most advanced equipment in information processing. At the Shinjuku campus there are specialty courses for juniors and seniors students in all departments in the day program, all courses in each department in the evening program, and lectures in the Graduate School. Open to the public, the campus also sponsors a variety of international conferences, academic forums, and symposiums. Site area : approx. 6,400m2 Floor space : approx. 44,400m2 Hachioji Campus Our Hachioji campus is a beautiful, spacious campus surrounded by nature. Freshmen and sophomores attend classes at our campus in Hachioji, a university town where more than twenty universities are located. The lush, natural surroundings of this spacious campus afford students an ideal environment in which they can concentrate on their studies and participate in diverse sports activities. The campus includes a full range of educational and research facilities in addition to sports facilities.
