About Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation (Deemed to be University)

The KL College of engineering was started in the Academic Year 1980-81 and attained autonomous status in 2006 and conferred with Deemed University (Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation Deemed to be University) status in the Year 2009 under Section 3 of UGC act 1956. The Vision of the University is to be globally renowned, and the mission is to impart higher education and to undertake research and extension with emphasis on application and innovation that cater to the emerging societal needs through all-round development of students of all sections enabling them to be globally competitive and socially responsible citizens with intrinsic values. NAAC assessed the University and accredited for a period of five years from 2018 to 2023 with a CGPA of 3.57 with A++ grade. The University has accorded Category-1 status. KLEF is UGC Recognized under section 12B of UGC Act 1956. The institute is also having ISO 21001-2018 Certification. NIRF awarded 22nd and 28th Rank to the University for 2024 and 2023 years respectively. ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements) placed KLEF under Band-Excellent (1-36) institution under University & Deemed to be University (Private/Self-Financed) (Technical) Category for year 2021. The KLEF got second prize in AICTE National level clean and smart campus award for 2020. K L Deemed to be University also got the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education “One District One Green Champion" Award and Swatchata Action Plan 2020-2021 (One District One Green Champion Award for Guntur District from Department of Higher Education). The KLEF secured 2nd and 3rd prize in the excellence in water management and waste management respectively as well as bagged "National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2022” by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). KLEF also honoured with the Water Sustainability Award for "Excellence in Water Use Efficiency – Domestic Sector" by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), in collaboration with the UNDP and Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, in March 2024. KLEF won the 4th Green Urja & Energy Efficiency Award for Skills, Diversity & Outreach Academia Excellence from the Indian Chamber of Commerce in February 2024. Additionally, KLEF was recognized as a national leader in digital learning at the National Code of Education Summit held at IIT Delhi in November 2023, securing the top position for pioneering digital education methods.  Research has taken a quantum step towards quality improvement through publishing in Scopus/SCI Indexed journals. Our research output includes over 20,667 articles in Scopus and 7,747 in Web of Science, accumulating 136,603 and 58,252 citations, respectively. The h-indices for Scopus and WoS stand at 97 and 76, respectively, with KLEF having filed 1,752 utility patents (44 granted), 541 design patents, and 102 international patents.

 

KLEF has established an ecosystem to promote innovations including a Center for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship development leading to start-ups in different disciplines. The University is very happy that 153 start-ups have commenced and as many students have been converted into individual entrepreneurs apart from many students who have joined their family businesses. The faculty are encouraged to take up projects from Government as well as Non-Government Agencies. KLEF has initiated promotion of institutional social responsibility through activities undertaken in the neighborhood rural community. They aim at combining social needs, professional expertise and skillful implementation of various schemes.

 

From 2012, KLEF extension activities Centre (EAC) has taken up several initiatives to launch programs involving the faculty, students and the local community. KLEF boasts of placing 100% of the eligible students since 2006 in various reputed National and multi-National companies with competitive packages. Its objective is to build future leaders. With its eight schools spanning Engineering, Architecture, Commerce, Science & Humanities, Fine Arts, Management, Hotel Management and Pharmacy, the institution boasts of over 1000+ faculty (700+ Doctorates) and nearly 18000 students from across India and several other countries, making it a truly global educational village!
