Founded in 1997, Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST) cites its main strength as being its logistics and transportation program, which is designed to meet industry needs and produce talented graduates to work in the Asian logistics sector.

The university itself is located in the urban setting of Petaling Jaya, Selangor. It’s a short 10 minute drive to Kuala Lumpur and a 15 minute walk to the nearest Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station. Nearby, you’ll find two shopping malls, two indoor stadiums and other useful amenities.

MUST identifies its three priorities as being:

MUST offers students the opportunity to study in a highly technologically advanced environment. Facilities include a Digital Boardroom Learning (DBL) environment, a library, hostel, cafeteria and free parking.

Approximately 36 percent of the students enrolled at MUST are international, meaning you can expect a cosmopolitan and culturally diverse study environment, particularly at postgraduate level. Nationalities represented on campus include the US, China, Indonesia, Netherlands, Pakistan and Syria.

Undergraduate students applying to MUST require proof of English proficiency (e.g. a score of at least 5.0 in IELTS). This is waived if there’s a supporting letter from a previous university stating the medium of instruction on your program was English. Applicants must also supply an official transcript and graduation certificate proving education to the required level (e.g. A-Level). If you’re applying for an IT or telecommunications course, you must have a credit in mathematics.

Average undergraduate tuition fees are $US13,904. A 30 percent scholarship is available for students with a CGPA of over 3.0 and study loans are available from the Malaysian government.

Master’s and PhD applicants must also be able to demonstrate proficiency in English and provide academic transcripts and their bachelor’s degree certificate. They should also inform the school of their proposed topic of interest for research.

Fees at master’s level are US$6,000 on average, while the PhD average is US$10,000. Again, scholarships are available. Contact the university for further information.

88 percent of the university’s graduates go on to find work within six months of graduating, while a further eight percent proceed to study a further academic qualification. The university currently has 169 active PhD students, studying and researching across a range of subjects in the management, information technology and logistics disciplines.
