The MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics creates supply chain innovation and drives it into practice through Education, Research, and Outreach. At the graduate level we offer the Master of Applied Science in Supply Chain Management, a practical, specialized managagement degree designed for students who want to advance their careers in industry or consulting upon graduation. Students who wish to continue on in research or pursue a PhD may opt for the more research-focused Master of Engineering in Supply Chain Management. Both degrees are conferred by the MIT School of Engineering.

All of our master's students work directly with global industry experts and researchers on complex, real-world business problems affecting all aspects of supply chain management. MIT SCM students learn powerful problem-solving frameworks and gain first-hand knowledge of the cultural demands of collaborating across disciplines and countries, and graduate as thought leaders ready to engage in an international, highly competitive marketplace.

The SCM master's curriculum emphasizes analytical problem solving, leadership training, and communication skills, and includes courses in Analytical Methods, Logistics Systems, Database Analysis/Information Systems/System Technologies, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Technical Communication/Writing, Leading Global Teams, and more. Students may also cross-register for management courses offered by MIT Sloan. Master's students complete a graduate research project, working closely with partner companies in diverse industries to devise solutions to challenges, maximize value throughout their supply chains, and be more resilient in responding to volatility.

Our customized career development training and support services help prepare our students for career success, and our intensive recruiting program assists students in securing high quality positions with top companies around the world. As a result, our program offers tremendous ROI as an MBA alternative. Our residential cohort students who go on to jobs in the US after graduation enjoy salary outcomes comparable to those of top-tier MBA program graduates – after just 10 months out of the workforce, and one year's tuition expense. (And because our program leads to an engineering degree, the 10-month residential option is an OPT-STEM eligible program.) In typical years over 90% of our students have job offers within 90 days of graduation. For the class of 2020, 100% had job offers 90 days after graduation, and 64% had offers by the end of their first semester in the program.
