“University aspiring to the future” is a basic principle penetrating all activity areas of Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology (Mendeleev University). Using this fulcrum, Mendeleev University mixes fundamental scientific knowledge with practical applications bringing solutions for all actual and future problems which the humanity faces. Mendeleev University was founded in 1898 as a response to the challenge, which required the education of fundamentally new specialists who were ready and able to support the rapid development of the chemical industry. And since then, thanks to the efforts of professors, researchers and graduates, growth and evolution of the university have been accompanied by creation of new materials, development of technologies and construction of production lines all around the world. Carefully preserving the original idea, Mendeleev University currently educates unique specialists who work in cross-disciplinary areas and have a combination of scientific and engineering skills. In our days, Mendeleev University is a regular participant of large global projects, a reliable partner of leading market players, and a leading university in Russia and the CIS countries in chemical technology. The university has 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students, including 1287 international students from Myanmar, Iraq, India, China, the United States, Europe and Africa. Education takes place at 11 faculties covering such areas as chemical technology, biotechnology, materials science, petrochemicals, pharmaceutical chemistry, agricultural chemistry, industrial and pharmaceutical engineering, and ecology. The development of advanced technologies and materials is the responsibility of 31 R&D centers and departments, created in cooperation with large international companies, as well. The university’s activities are not limited to science and education. Within the walls of the university, many cultural and sports events are organized. A large number of sports teams are supported, some of which are world leaders in their respective sports. Greater attention is paid to the popularization of science among children, for which a specialized children's tech-park was created. The university has two campuses. The historical campus is located in the center of Moscow and includes facilities from the late 19th century with amazing architecture. The new campus is set in the north of the city close to the picturesque forest. This campus is the main base for the university research departments, as well as the site for the construction of the Mendeleev Valley, which will become a universal platform for transforming existing and launching new innovative companies in the main research areas of the university. In addition, Mendeleev University has two branches. The first one is closely located to one of the largest technological centers in Russia in Novomoskovsk and is aimed at transferring university developments to large-scale industry. The second branch is placed in a brand-new high-tech campus in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and acts as one of the main steps in the international program of the university. Having its background, experience, and professional team, Mendeleev University sets itself the goal of becoming a world-class competence center for industries and implement the model of an open digital university. As part of this transformation, Chemical Engineering, Material Genome & Cheminformatics, Chemistry for Life & Ecology, Energy & Sustainability, and Art & Engineering have been selected as core scientific areas. Raising the veil of the future, Mendeleev University never stops in its development, and all students and staff members are the key drivers of the university's permanent movement towards the new.
