About Modul University Vienna
Located on the Kahlenberg hill, which offers a spectacular view across the Austrian capital, Modul University Vienna is Austria’s largest private university and is owned by the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and Industry. University information
Applications to MU are submitted online through the university’s application portal. Applicants should review the entry requirements for their chosen program and prepare the requested academic documents, proof of English proficiency, identification and supporting materials in English.
Entry requirements differ by degree. Bachelor’s applicants may need foundation preparation, master’s applicants need a suitable first degree, MBA candidates also need professional experience, and PhD candidates submit a proposal aligned with MU’s supervisory expertise.
Eligible applicants are invited to an online interview about their motivation and study plans. Decisions are communicated by email; offers may be full or conditional on outstanding requirements.

MU’s Kahlenberg campus combines teaching and study facilities with views across Vienna and the surrounding vineyards. Modern classrooms support interactive teaching, while project rooms and shared study areas provide space for group work, presentations and independent learning.
Common areas, coffee stations and a cafeteria with a terrace provide places to meet classmates and take a break between classes. The surrounding Kahlenberg area offers access to walking trails and green spaces.
Students arrange accommodation through external providers in Vienna. MU’s accommodation support service helps students identify options suited to their budget, location preferences and lifestyle, including student residences and private housing.
Student life
Student life at MU centers on an international community where students learn alongside classmates with different cultural backgrounds and experiences. Small classes, approachable staff and shared campus spaces make it easier to build friendships and participate in university life.
Orientation introduces new students to course registration, academic expectations, university services and life in Vienna. The Buddy Program pairs new international and exchange students with experienced MU students who can offer peer advice and help them settle in.
Student-led clubs provide opportunities to explore interests, organise activities and develop leadership and teamwork skills. Activities span areas such as hospitality, language exchange, photography, games and mental wellbeing. Students can also propose a new club, subject to university requirements.
Academic support includes peer tutoring and guidance from program managers in the Academic Office. The Open Office provides support with study planning, academic challenges, adapting to university life and balancing commitments. Wellbeing resources and the Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Committee contribute to a supportive campus environment.
Beyond campus, Vienna offers museums, concerts, cafés, festivals and international restaurants, alongside parks and outdoor recreation. Students can explore the city through its public transport network and experience the cultural variety of Austria and neighbouring European destinations.

Career Days is the biggest English-speaking career fair in Vienna hosted by MU aiming to connect students with employers and recruiters. Innovation Nights bring together guest lectures and industry visits to support student learning and networking. Selected MSc students can join the Industry Excellence Program for individual mentoring from senior executives over two semesters.

MU alumni stories feature professional experience at organisations including Amazon, PwC Austria, Raiffeisen Bank International, JLL Hong Kong and Marriott properties in Bangkok.
