About Namangan State University
On March 6, 1941, by the Decree of the Praesidium of the Supreme Council of the Uzbek SSR, the Namangan region was formed. In this regard, the expansion of the network of state educational institutions and strengthening them with qualified teaching staff has become one of the most important issues. In 1942, Namangan Pedagogical College was established as a branch of Andijan Pedagogical Institute in the centre of Namangan. The branch transformed into Namangan Pedagogical Institute, named after Kori-Niazi in 1944 and started working independently. On March 15, 1992, by the Decree of the President (February 28, 1992), Namangan State University named after Khamza was established on the basis of Namangan Pedagogical Institute. In accordance with the Decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ 60 and 61, Namangan State University granted financial, academic and managerial independence.
Currently, Namangan State University (NamSU) is one of the biggest higher educational institutions in Uzbekistan with more than 18 thousand students and over 1000 teaching staff. It is located in Namangan province, which has almost 3 million population. The fastest economic growth and intensive social development require more highly qualified and talented young professional cadres. NamSU is considered a key role player to provide such cadres for the economic and social sectors. The structural organisation of Namangan State University involves 10 faculties, 24 departments, 33 operating departments, 12 research centres, 36 research laboratories, 4 vocational schools, 2 academic lyseum and 2 regional branches of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In educational spheres, government bodies, public organizations and also in private establishments, one can see our graduated students who built successful careers. Currently NamSU offers 73 bachelor's, 28 master and 38 PhD programs. The quality of education is our major focus, which we always strive to provide better conditions for our students to get the modern and fundamental knowledge.
In order to improve the scientific appearance of the university, many professors and researchers have been working on projects and scientific works. Recently, the number of articles in journals that are internationally based by NamSU professors has reached 590. Moreover, one of the priorities of NamSU is to improve the quality of future cadres, and there is a special branch for working with intelligent youth.
Namangan State University has established international cooperation with more than 150 foreign organisations. The university has good experience in implementing international projects. Examples of such large projects as UZDOC, IMEP, MoteHED, TuningCAHEA implemented within the framework of the Erasmus+ program, and KOICA-financed CHILLI MEDIA CENTER.
The university develops its own digital platforms in a special IT park. It includes a specifically designed lecture hall for students. As part of the "Google for Education" grant worth $100,000, IT park staff secured 100 terabytes of storage on the "Google Workspace" platform, as well as free access to cloud platforms like "Google Classroom" and "Google Office". For the modernisation of the material-technical base, the IT park was equipped with specialised computer devices worth 44,100 US Dollars in 2024.
Thirty-six academic laboratory rooms at the university were equipped with tools and devices to conduct laboratory sessions in 64 subjects. Equipment worth $518,000 was supplied and integrated into the educational process for laboratories in "Chemistry," "Chemical Technology," "Mechanics," "Ecology," "Biology", and "Information Technologies". 55.97 billion UZS was allocated for capital renovation and simulation mannequins and tools for practical and clinical training. Building of "Innovative Educational Campus" with a capacity of 2,000 seats and 4 dormitories with 1600 seats was completed. Starting in May 2025, this building will host academic programs in STEM sciences, featuring modern laboratories for undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate research.
Besides these, modernisation works in “Centre for spirituality and culture” with 400 seats and 6 training rooms, two academic buildings with 2500 seats and "Technopark" with 1500 seats and 15 research centres for developing and commercialising scientific-practical projects, and a campus for international students has been completed. In 2024, the university invested 3.4 billion UZS to enhance its information and communication technology infrastructure. This included purchasing 250 computers, 30 laptops, digital panels, monitors, and podiums, resulting in a 24% renewal of the university’s computer inventory.
