Overview

Established in 1971 in Changhua County,Taiwan, National Changhua University of Education (NCUE) is a comprehensiveuniversity offering 21 undergraduateprograms, 43 master’s programs, and 15 PhD programs, covering avariety of subjects, including arts and humanities, engineering and technology,life sciences, natural sciences, guidance and counseling, business management,and education and sports.

The College of Education, College ofScience, College of Technology, College of LiberalArt, College of Engineering, College of Management and College of Social Sciences and Physical Education are seven extensioneducation colleges at NCUE, which actively cooperate with the government,academia and research institutions, making the university a hub forprofessional education and training.

National Changhua University of Educationis also one of three universities in Taiwan that offers secondary schoolteacher certificate programs and teacher training. For more than 10 consecutiveyears, NCUE has been awarded several awards from the Ministry of Education forits outstanding teaching projects, and currently ranks as the second largestuniversity in Taiwan for teacher education.

Teaching at NCUE is conducted mainly inChinese. However, there are a number of courses which are taught in English, aswell as undergraduate language-orientated courses,including Vietnamese, Korean, Thai, French and Japanese.

With a student population of almost 7,000, just over four percent of students at NationalChanghua University of Education represent 15 nationalities from all over theworld. The university is therefore committed to international relations andexchanges, and has signed double-degree collaboration agreements with a numberof foreign universities to help students gain a dual degree qualification. In 2017,National Changhua University of Education was awarded the Award for Excellencein International Student Services by the Ministry of Education.

There’s a number of industrial and scienceparks around NCUE, which provide students the opportunity to engage incollaborative undertakings with both government agencies and local industries.

There’s also a wide variety of state-of-the-artfacilities, including optical metrology, material testing,semiconductor processor available for students, faculty, staff and non-NCUEresearchers to use. As well as the university library, computer laboratories,athletic track, gymnasium, healthcare center, counselling and guidance center,language center, and a variety of extra-curricularclubs

Not only does NCUE offer exceptional services and facilities, but Changhua City itself has a lot for students to see and do.

Changhua City is famous for its Mt. Bagua Great Buddha Scenic area, whilst other local attractions include the oldest Confucius temple in Taiwan, Tianwei Highway Garden (the largest flower cultivation area in the nation), as well as a coastal wildlife reservation and ecology zone. Lukang is an urban township showcases temples and historical architectures which provide visitors excellent opportunities to explore Taiwanese heritage and history.

What’s more, is that Changhua County is one of the key transport hubs in central Taiwan thanks to its mountain and coastal railroad routes. The city of Changhua is only a 15 minute drive from the High Speed Rail (THSR) Taiwan Taichung station, and an hour away from Taipei, Kaohsiung and Taoyuan International Airport making travel around the area quick and easy.

If you’re interested in studying at NCUE,there are more than 100 different types of internal and external scholarships and financial grantsavailable for international students and graduate students. NCUE also offerstuition installment plans for students who are from a low socioeconomicbackground, emergency allowances, and campus meal coupons. Some of thescholarships available for students include:

·        Enrollment Incentive – Tuition fees, miscellaneousfees, and accommodation fees (during regular semesters) are exempted for thefirst academic year for new students.

·        NCUE Scholarship for Outstanding Academic and Conductive Performance(number and value of the scholarship may varybetween departments and institution).

·        Zhongli Yang Scholarship for Outstanding Academic and ConductivePerformance – worth NT$60,000(~US$1,950) for MalaysianChinese students only. 

There’s a careers counselling service at NationalChanghua University of Education which offers its students help and advice for findinggraduate jobs after university.

According to a 2017 survey of the students whohave graduated from NCUE for three years, over 80 percent of these graduateswere full-time employed by schools/educational institutuions (about 32.%),corporate/business companies (about 39%), government sectors (about 6.5%), andothers.
