The College of Engineering at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University established the master's program for in-service professionals in response to the Ministry of Education's initiative for returning education. In 1999, the Industry Safety and Disaster Prevention group was established; in 2000, the Precision and Automation Engineering group was formed; in 2001, the Engineering Technology and Management group was created; and in 2003, the Semiconductor Materials and Process Equipment group was established, all of which have been enrolling students over the years. Graduates are awarded a master's degree in engineering. The purpose of establishing each group in this program is to address the rapid development of high-tech industries, such as semiconductors, and the continuing education needs of professionals in the Hsinchu Science Park and surrounding related industries. Utilizing the abundant resources of the university in electronics-related teaching and research, the program aims to create a channel for acquiring industry-related theoretical knowledge and to gain advanced technological insights through interactive teaching, enhancing professional skills and strengthening industry-academia collaboration, with the goal of cultivating talent and improving the level of our nation's high-tech industry. In recent years, particularly, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology have been vigorously promoting project plans to improve practical abilities, making the re-education of professional engineers urgently necessary.
