National Yunlin University of Science and Technology

 Introduction

Established since 1991, Yun Tech is constituted of 5 colleges, namely College of Engineering, College of Management, College of Design, College of Humanities and Applied Science, and College of Future. The School currently offers 22 Departments, 26 Master Programs, and 13 Doctoral Programs. Many of our teachers have obtained high academic achievement. In particular, Dr. Jung-Chuan Chou (Department of Electronic Engineering) is named Honorary Fellow of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine, Dr. Mei-Hsin Wang (Graduate School of Material Science) is named Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry UK, and Dr. Chi-Min Shu (Department and Graduate School of Safety Health and Environmental Engineering) was chosen as Fellow of American Institute of Chemical Engineers in 2016. Over 81% of our teachers have acquired practical experiences. As more than 85% of our teachers have devoted time and effort into industry-academy cooperation.

Innovative Education System 

In terms of teaching, Yun Tech is focused on fostering and nurturing interdisciplinary talents. For this reason, Yun Tech has developed interdisciplinary industrial curriculum modules with the collective efforts from inter-departmental colleges, the PBL Center and College of Future. PBL (problem-based learning) curriculum is designed to integrate with practical topics in each department. Talents are nurtured and trained through importing actual industrial and communal issues and the design of practical courses. With these endeavors, we hope to establish Yun Tech as a new teaching system that “focuses on student learning, aims for adaptive development, uses educational innovation as a strategy, and adopts the society and industry as fields of learning”.

School Features and Competition Awards

“The needs of any student should not be ignored, and the university of science and technology should be connected to the industry.” Yun Tech endeavors to achieve such mission through integrating the innovative system of our College of Future and the innovative energy of the Yun Tech Industrial Technology Research Institute. The School aims to build a talent-nurturing educational environment and a mechanism to link research and development outcome with new business ventures. We will continue to strive forward to achieve our goal as becoming a “pragmatic and practical paragon of all universities of science and technology”.
