NAZARBAYEV UNIVERSITY

Nazarbayev University is a modern and rapidly growing university initiated by the President of Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev who seeks to promote a qualitative leap forward in the preparation of the next generation of national technical and scientific elites to assist in the industrial-innovative development of the country. In Fall-2010 the university accepted first students. Language of instruction is English.

On June 15, 2011 the university changed its legal status which creates a legal framework for institutional autonomy and academic freedom. In June 2015 NU celebrated its first graduation. 380 Bachelor and 142 Graduate students received NU diplomas. Total number of studetns and faculty is around 3800 and 400 respectivily.

The university’s vision is training professionals with qualifications meeting the highest international standards who will be able to contribute to the research, education, and the national economy. The mission of Nazarbayev University is to advance the development of education and research in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as to contribute to Astana’s aspiration to become Eurasia’s research and educational center.

Nazarbayev University has turned into a national resource, contributing to the broader transformation of education in Kazakhstan with its academic freedom and autonomy, and its integrated teaching, research and inovation activities.
