About Oman College of Health Sciences (OCHS)
Shaping the Future of Healthcare Education in Oman
As the Sultanate’s premier institution dedicated exclusively to health sciences, the Oman College of Health Sciences (OCHS) has been at the forefront of medical education since its inception in 1982. Established to bolster the nation’s capacity for training top-tier healthcare professionals, the College serves as a cornerstone of the national health system. Our graduates are defined by their clinical competence, professional integrity, and an unwavering commitment to public well-being. By continuously evolving alongside global advancements in pedagogy and medicine, OCHS ensures its students become highly skilled, evidence-based practitioners ready for the modern world.
A transformative milestone in the College’s history was marked by Royal Decree 18/2018, which unified Oman’s various health institutes into a single, cohesive academic entity. This strategic consolidation merged decades of educational expertise, positioning OCHS as the primary national authority for undergraduate health sciences. Today, the College operates through a central hub and seven regional branches. This multi-campus model ensures equitable access to high-quality clinical training while directly supporting the Ministry of Health’s vision for accessible, community-based education across all govern-orates.
Academic Mission and Core Values
The mission of OCHS is to serve as a regional leader in health sciences education, driven by academic rigor, pedagogical innovation, and the seamless integration of research into clinical practice. Our academic culture is anchored by seven core values: Quality, Innovation, Empowerment, Professionalism, Collaboration, Transparency, and Belonging. These principles guide every aspect of the student experience, ensuring that graduates possess not only technical mastery but also the ethical foundation and interpersonal skills vital to effective patient care.
A hallmark of the OCHS experience is the cultivation of a strong Omani identity alongside professional responsibility. We empower students to see themselves as vital contributors to the Sultanate's national development. This dual focus on international healthcare standards and local cultural values creates a learning environment that is globally aligned yet deeply attuned to the specific needs of the Omani people.
