Patience, strength, courage and flexibility - these are the main features that Omsk State Agrarian University team has. This is what we'd like to see in future agronomists, environmentalists, economists and other professionals whose home is our university.
According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture rankings, Omsk SAU is in the Top-10 leading agrarian higher education institutions in the country. Founded in 1918, it is also the oldest university in the city of Omsk.
The university consists of 7 faculties:
Agrotechnological Faculty; Faculty of Agrochemistry, Soil Science, Ecology, Environmental Engineering and Water Use; Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; Faculty of Zootechny, Commodity Science and Standardization; Faculty of Land Management; Faculty of Economics; Faculty of Technical Service of Agro-Industrial Complex
Omsk SAU has 6 academic buildings on its primary campus in Omsk and a separate campus where Faculty of veterinary medicine is located. There is also a branch in a town of Tara, and a University College of Agribusiness, focused on vocational education.
The university closely cooperated with more than 100 higher education institutions abroad. Teachers take part in different international projects such as Jean Monnet Activities, academic exchanges, governmental grants. Among Omsk SAU prominent alumni, there is the Mayor of Omsk and the first Governor of the Omsk Region.
Our university is determined to be accessible for all categories of students. Two thirds of students come from rural areas, and around 12% are foreigners. Dormitories are equipped for handicapped people, and campus infrastructure is well-developed. Shops, sport centers, a barbershop, a kindergarten, Student Palace of Culture and a library make education and living on campus comfortable for everyone.
The main building is surrounded by more than 40 hectares of forest consisting mostly of spruce and birch trees. The forest and vast fields outside the campus are used for recreational and educational purposes. Unique campus location and great attention to ecology allow Omsk SAU to participate in international sustainability rankings.
Omsk State Agrarian University is a base for various non-educational activities. There is a volunteer center "Globus" where students cooperate to help those in need or organize celebrations like Christmas or Victory Day events. There are various creative groups where young people share their ideas and master their artistic skills. All Omsk SAU students can participate in Russian Student Squads (student teams who work on different enterprises each summer). Sports events are held quite often, too.
Recently created Intercultural Student Center strengthens cooperation between Russian and foreign students and organizes meeting with representatives of foreign universities and exchange students. One of Omsk SAU priorities is to digitalize education and make it accessible from anywhere. The official website is available in English - omgau.ru and the university has a Facebook page facebook.com and Instagram instagram.com. All our students can study online using Zoom or other programs. We constantly renew admission guides for those willing to enter our university.
