About Orel State University named after I.S. Turgenev
Orel State University (Orel SU), named after I.S. Turgenev, is a unique and dynamically developing education-science-production complex in Russia which integrates qualitative education and perspective science. Founded in 1919, Orel SU’s mission is to generate scientific knowledge, conduct interdisciplinary programmes aimed at training highly qualified professionals, and to implement innovative solutions to ensure a high quality of life in accordance with the national interest and global market demands.
Orel itself is located in the European part of Russia, 368 km south-west of Moscow. It is connected to Moscow by a bus and rail service, in fact it takes less than 4 hours to travel by high-speed train. The climate is moderate, with fairly cold winters, mixed warm and cool summers and fairly warm spring and autumns. Orel is considered to be one of the literary capitals of Russia. The city has cinemas, museums, libraries, cafés, restaurants and other cultural attractions.
Orel SU’s campuses contain sixteen academic buildings, nine student dormitories and a clinic. As well as these facilities, students can enjoy the ice palace, sports centre and swimming pool on campus.

Candidates can begin their applications and submit their documents from June. The period of submission ends at different times over July to August for different courses. Applications can be sent by post or online. Some courses require a medical check to enroll.
Applicants for a bachelor's degree must have completed secondary education, confirmed by a document (such as certificate or diploma) that allows them to apply for higher education at a university.
