O.S. Popov Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications

O.S. Popov Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications(ONAT) was founded in 1920. Nowadays Academy trains experts and carries outscientific researches in the field of telecommunications, information technologies and ICT,computer science, TV and radio communications, postal and automation services,logistics, economy and management. Main activities of Academy are: developmentof new telecommunication technologies, designing and construction of moderntelecommunication networks, realization of joint social projects (Child OnlineProtection, free & safe internet access, etc), development of norms andregulations for telecommunications, organization of seminars, conferences andworkshops. It cooperates with different international, regional and stateorganizations. Since 2008 ONAT has been the member of InternationalTelecommunication Union (ITU) and also the constitutor of the InternationalConstantly Acting Rectors’ Conference of Telecommunication Universities.

Since 1949 the degrees of Bachelors and Masters havebeen obtained by nearly 2500 foreign students form 75 countries of the world;more than 80 of them became PhD.

In 1998 the Preparatory Department for foreignstudents who do not know Ukrainian or Russian language was open at ONAT. During10 months foreign citizens fulfill their training both in languages and inMathematics, Physics and other subjects that are necessary for their furthersuccessful studies at ONAT on Master’s Degree Program, Bachelor’s DegreeProgram and Post-graduate Program.

The Academy consists of following study and research divisions:

• Educational and Scientific Institute of Radio, Television and Information Security;
• Educational and Scientific Institute of Computer Technologies, Automation, and Logistics
• Educational and Scientific Institute of Economics and Management
• Educational and Scientific Institute of Problems of Information Society
• Educational and Scientific Institute of Distance learning and Correspondence Study
• Educational and Scientific Production Centers in Kyiv, Lviv and Vinnitsa
• College of Telecommunications and Information Processing.

In September 2020 ONAT willcelebrate its centenary. For many years more than 85,000 professionals oftelecommunication sphere have been trained at ONAT for Ukraine and othercountries.
