Rafik Hariri University (RHU) is situated atop a seaside mountain overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in Mechref; a short drive from Beirut, Sidon, and Mount Lebanon in the heart of a prestigious gated community.

RHU’s main strength lies in:

  • Low faculty to student ratio: The RHU low student to faculty ratio was 11 to 1 in 2019
  • Hub for Innovators and Entrepreneurs
  • Accreditation: 2019 was a banner year for the College of Engineering at RHU where several milestones were reached. RHU is currently undergoing the ACBSP accreditation for the College of Business Administration and has completed the accreditors’ review visit.

RHU is best known for:

  • RHU is a university of firsts: RHU is the first in Lebanon to offer an engineering degree in mechatronics; the first in the region to offer an MBA in oil and gas management; the first to offer a bachelor of science in engineering technology; and the first to offer a degree in health care information systems.

RHU has one campus in Mechref with nine buildings – seven are educational, one is for administration, and one is for student residences.

The Student Affairs Office (SAO) provides services related to financial assistance, athletic facilities, student clubs, student housing, student recreation centers, student council, student counseling, student health and wellness, prayer area, and all sorts of facilities including:

  • Dormitories
  •  Transportation
  • Athletics and recreation
  • Health care
  • English language support center
  • Learning Support Center (LSC)
  • Counseling and coaching
  • Information Technology Solutions
  • RHU Library
  • Disabled facilities

International students at RHU constitute 9.48 percent of the student body, representing eight different nationalities.  

The SAO organizes several events and activities throughout the year in collaboration with student clubs, including blood drives, fundraising events, entertainment events, annual open house and welcome party.

The Athletic teams also organize and participate in national and international challenges and tournaments. The office also provides volunteering and community service activities.

Students can live in Mechref both on and off campus. Students living on campus have access to all student facilities and services, in addition to bus shuttles around the clock to the nearest city area.

To gain admission onto a program, students require the following:

  • High school records from the last three year
  • A certified copy of the official certificate or diploma
  • Certified copy of Official Lebanese High School equivalence of all non-Lebanese degrees
  • Official university transcript attested by the Ministry of Higher Education along with the university catalog (for transfer students only).
  • English proficiency: Official TOEFL scores/In-house TOEFL; Official IELTS scores; Official score of SAT I writing section
  • A non-refundable application fee of LL 100,000 (US$65.91) accompanying your application (no additional fees apply to international students)

There are a number of scholarships available from the likes of Merit Scholarships, Athletic Scholarships; Work-Study program.

Cooperative Training Program

  • The Co-op training program is designed allow students to test and apply knowledge, skills and competences acquired in the classrooms and labs. Students will develop a clear purpose and become more engaged during their last year of study

  • The Communication and Alumni Relations Office relays information on available job vacancies to RHU alumni to assist them in the employment process, career change and transitions, and networking opportunities.
