South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University named after Ozbekali Zhanibekov is a leading center of higher education and science in the southern region of Kazakhstan. Currently, the university trains future specialists in 40 Bachelor’s, 22 Master's and 13 Doctoral educational programs.

The university sets the important mission of improving the quality of human capital based on best practices in the field of education. Being one of the methodological centers and leaders in the development of the higher education system of Kazakhstan, it is intended to become a modern hub that meets the requirements of world standards through the implementation of planned strategic objectives. According to the results of the national rating of the independent agency IAAR “National Rating of Higher Educational Institutions ”, the university took 9th place among the “Top 20” leading higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan twice in 2022 and 2024 years.

The University carries out mutual cooperation in the fields of higher education and science within the framework of more than 100 international agreements. Students have the opportunity to study at higher educational institutions in Poland, Hungary, Latvia, Czech Republic, Türkiye and other countries under the academic mobility program, and university professors and teachers undergo scientific internships in the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Türkiye as holders of the prestigous “500 Scientists" Scholarship of the "Bolashak" International Program.

Every year, visiting foreign professors give lectures to university students and share their experience in the field of higher education and scientific research with the academic staff. In recent years, highly qualified professors have been invited from Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Malaysia, Türkiye, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Russia.

The university has 6 faculties, Turkish and English language courses, a stadium and sports complexes, laboratories, woodworking, metalworking, sewing, craft workshops, art therapy rooms, a printing house, a library and a coworking center serving students 24 hours a day.

This year, the college named after Zh. Aimauytuly began functioning at the university, which is currently accepting applicants for the new academic year.

Exhibition Center of Archeology “The Country of the Great Steppe - at the Crossroads of Civilizations,” consisting of artifacts found by the university student archaeological team created in 1966, tells the story of the history of the great steppe of 100 thousand years BC and XII century AD.
