Southern Technical University

Southern Technical University (STU) is a polytechnic university which is one of the modern Iraqi universities that are established in 2014. It offers different education levels which are technical Diploma, Technical Bachelor , and Technical Master of Science in  ( Engineering, Technology, Administration, Health and Medicine, Finance and Accounting, and other tracks). It has a significant geographical location, makes it a powerful university and easy to reach by national and international stakeholders. Twelve technical institutions under its umbrella, which are: 

1- Basrah Technical Institute

2- Basrah Engineering Technical College 

3- Basrah Management Technical College 

4- Basrah Health Technical College

5- Thiqar Technical College 

6- Umarah Technical Institute

7- Shatra Technical Institute 

8- Qurna Technical Institute 

9- Nasriya Technical Institute  

10 - Misan Technical College

11- Al-Shatra Technical college

12- Higher Education College  

In addition to these institutions, the university and through the Faculty of Graduate Studies introduces new postgraduate programs and this faculty is taking advantages of multidisciplinary disciplines available within STU. 

The university also and through its services and research  centers became an interest point to linkage by different stakeholders in the region. Not only that, but also  STU leadership is eager to participate globally in the capacity building and linkage programs within faculty exchange and training programs. Furthermore, STU main campus   located in the ancient city which is Basrah in territory with Arabian gulf countries. The main campus has dorms, recreation and sport centers. Career services and continuing education programs have a unique designed framework to ensure the maximum university outcomes meeting the labor market needs. Internship programs , summer training and one day scientific visit to industries are regular activities within our education curricula. However, the number of the qualified permanent faulty members who finished their degrees abroad has been increased gradually and that able them to share their knowledge and skills toward modernizing the university infrastructure and services. Indeed, STU is an avital university and it funded to motivate skilled and talented students in the creativity and entrepreneurship.
