The state-recognised SRH Fernhochschule – The Distance Learning University is a forward-thinking university committed to distance education that accommodate working professionals.

Our innovative online campus (E-Campus) serves as the hub for your studies, allowing you to succeed wherever and whenever it suits you, while managing work, training, family, or athletic commitments simultaneously.

Our university offers a selection of 51 online Bachelor's and Master's programmes as well as over 60 university certificates. Optional face-to-face classes and examinations are available at 21 sites. Currently, more than 9,000 students are enrolled at the largest university in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, which was voted Germany’s most popular distance learning university for the fifth time in 2023. Although SRH DLU is a distance learning institution, it is based in Riedlingen, Germany.

As a system-accredited university with permanent state recognition awarded by the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, we hold the quality seal of the German Accreditation Council. All degree programmes and certificate courses have received state accreditation.

Our International Scholarships

We are convinced that all human beings, regardless of their financial means, should have access to high-quality education for their personal and professional development. That's why our scholarships support eligible students on their path towards an internationally recognized academic degree from our university.

Every year we award a limited number of international scholarships for prospective students in our English-speaking programmes. Scholarships cover 50 percent of tuition fees for the desired degree programme, i.e. a Bachelor's or Master's degree.

SRH Fernhochschule offers both accredited certifications and bachelor's degrees to undergraduate students.  

  • Certificates are available in a range of subjects.

All bachelor's courses take 6 semesters (around 3 years, generally) to complete. The length of the certification qualifications varies: each duration is as stated. Most courses at SRH are taught in German, unless indicated otherwise.

We guarantee that you will receive the best possible support for the entire duration of your distance learning Master’s degree , provided to you by our professors and mentors. Your Master’s programme is designed for independent study while you are in full-time employment or have other responsibilities. You will expand your knowledge through online courses.

Which Master's degree programme suits you?

60, 90 or 120 ECTS? How long and how in-depth you complete your Master's degree with us is up to you and depends on the ECTS you have acquired from your first degree. We will show you which requirements you should bring with you for the respective Master's variant and, of course, will be happy to check your admission in individual cases. For each option, you will also find the respective curricula as well as the individual financing models.

Your distance learning Master’s degree – 100% flex

  1. You are free to start your Master’s programme on the first day of any month.
  2. Depending on your previous qualifications and ECTS credit points already earned, you can choose from three study options – comprising 120, 90 or 60 ECTS credit points.
  3. Your Master’s programme is designed for independent study while you are in full-time employment or have other responsibilities.
  4. You do not have to specify your study duration in advance. We guarantee that we will support you for up to twice the length of the standard duration of studies – without charging you any additional fees!
  5. We regularly hold free and interactive live support classes at our study centres that you may choose to join in person or online.

The quickest way to enrol with us is to send your application for one of our distance learning programmes to our online application portal.
If you prefer not to use our online application portal, simply download the application for enrolment from our website, complete it online, and email it – as a PDF file, together with your documents in the usual formats (JPG, PDF, PNG) – to [email protected]
All Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes can be started on the first day of each month. Since the lectures and examinations are repeated continuously, it is possible to start your studies at any time without any problems. Please allow 2 weeks for processing and submit your application for enrolment in good time.
Yes. Basically, you can transfer credits earned in other degree programmes or apart form higher education. You can only transfer credits that are not an admission criterion for your chosen study programme (this is why you cannot transfer credits from your general university entrance qualification, for example). 
You can only transfer credits that meet the requirements of the Act on Higher Education (LHG) of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg. Nor can we take into account skills you have gained from your professional experience. We will be happy to check for you which modules we can recognise or transfer, based on your previous expertise – free of charge and with no strings attached. Due to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), study achievements are internationally comparable and recognised. 180 credits are required for successful completion of the Bachelor's programme. For the Master's degree, 60, 90 or 120 credits are required.
If you are a student living abroad, you can apply for an international scholarship. If you are a German student there are several ways to finance your studies such as a scholarship, a student grant (BAföG), an education cheque, educational leave, a study loan or a training loan to help pay for your distance learning programme with us.
