About State University "Uzhhorod National University"
The State University “Uzhhorod National University” (UzhNU) belongs to classical universities of Ukraine. It holds the highest accreditation level. UzhNU ranks one of the largest and best universities in the Carpathian region. Founded in 1945, the university is young, but for a short period of time it has proved itself worthy in the scientific world, has become a benchmark, the alma mater for many generations of students, who are now successfully working in Ukraine and in other countries of the world.
Our University educates over 13, 000 students and provides education in 8 majors of a Junior Specialist qualification, as well as in 55 Bachelor and 40 Master majors. The University takes pride in its 170 doctors of sciences, professors, about 800 candidates of sciences, 11 laureates of the National Award.
More than 1000 foreign students from 35 countries are educated at the University.
Education of the scientific and pedagogical staff is carried out through the Master, Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies. There are eight Specialized Academic Boards on awarding doctoral and candidate degrees in Physics, Mathematics, Economics, History, Law, Chemistry, Medicine and Dentistry.
The University has the largest academic library in the region, with 1 757 680 units, including many unique samples of domestic and foreign printing. The library develops book exchange with 35 national libraries, international book exchange with 5 foreign libraries, the Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and scientific museums.
The University has 20 academic buildings, 6 laboratory buildings and 6 student dormitories with the total area of 138.8 thousand square meters.
Favourable geographical position of Uzhhorod National University is a significant factor in selecting of the strategy for international cooperation and strategic partners. Uzhhorod National University cooperates actively on the international level, setting as a priority educational and research activities, the implementation of joint projects and programs. Our University actively keeps friendly relations with over 100 partners from 18 countries of the world.
The University is a member of the European University Association, Danube Rector’s Conference and Association of Carpathian Region Universities (ACRU).
