The Tashkent
Pharmaceutical Institute is the only pharmaceutical higher education
institution in Central Asia. It was formally established on July 16, 1937, by
the order of the People\'s Commissar of Public Health of Uzbekistan on the basis
of separate chairs of the Tashkent MedicalInstitute. This event laid the
groundwork for the training of pharmaceutical specialists not only in
Uzbekistan but in all Central Asian countries.
The Institute has
turned 85 years, and after a short history of its formation, formation and
development, today it is a large educational, scientific, spiritual and
educational center with significant potential and high creative potential. In
the years of independence, it has achieved great success in reforming
pharmaceutical education.
Nowadays there are
more than 300 professors and teachers in the faculties and departments of the
Institute, 55 doctors and over 120 candidates of science. They train highly
qualified pharmacists, biotechnologists, pharmaceutical engineers,
pharmaceutical engineers and cosmetics technologists in the country. At the
same time, it has been honored to develop pharmaceutical science, to improve
the drug supply of the population, and to create high-quality, new drugs based
on local raw materials are coming.
It is well-known
that training of highly qualified, competitive staff capable to solve social,
economic, scientific and technical problems at the highest level is a priority
task for all higher education institutions of the Republic.
For many years, the
Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute trained only one specialty - pharmacy, State
educational standards, and curricula mainly focused on pharmacy, drug
preparation, and quality control. Adoption of the National Program for
Personnel Training in the country required radical change and improvement of
the system of education, including pharmaceutical cadres.
Initially, the
curriculum was revised and changes were made to the curricula in the specialty.
In particular, instead of memorizing“complex chemical synthesis and other
information in pharmaceutical chemistry that is of great importance for future
professional work, the emphasis is on the control, quality, standardization,
and certification of medicines.
The concept of the
pharmaceutical business organization included such concepts as \"Drug
Policy\", \"Logistics\",\"Counterfeit Drugs\", and
\"Pharmaceutical Economy\".
New complementary
disciplines are included in the medical-biological sciences: clinical pharmacy,
pharmacokinetics, pharmacological biochemistry, and pharmaceutical care.
The rapid
development of the pharmaceutical sector in the years of independence has
required a new generation of personnel for the sector and the development of a
long-term strategy for their training. First of all, it is necessary to improve
the subjects in the curriculum, to create new directions in accordance with the
requirements of applied pharmaceuticals.
This includes the
following directions: \"ClinicalPharmacy\", \"Industrial
Pharmacy\", \"Cosmetics\" and \"Pharmaceutical Chemistry and
pharmacognosy\", \"Organization and Management of
PharmaceuticalBusiness\", and \"Industrial Technology of Drugs\".
The basis for the organization of a Master\'s Degree in \"Technology of
immunobiological and microbiological preparations\".
The near future of
pharmaceutical education is related to the training of specialists who meet
modern society\'s requirements for the pharmaceutical industry, with continuous
self-improvement and continuous professional development, as well as in
collaboration with advanced science and production and pharmaceutical education
institutions.
