Consistently featured as one of the highest-ranked universities in Germany in the QS World University Rankings®, Technical University of Munich (Technische Universität München), also known as TUM, was founded in 1868 and is a member of the TU9, an association of nine of Germany’s most prestigious technical universities. TUM has 15 academic departments/schools and around40,000 students on campus, of which over 30% are international. It calls itself The Entrepreneurial University and aims to foster a supportive environment for budding entrepreneurs. There are around 200 degree programs available including a wide selection of English-taught courses and programs.

TUM offers a large range of bachelor’s degree programs, with some programs offering the possibility of a joint or double degree. One of the entry requirements is that you have a higher education entrance qualification, but admission requirements vary between subjects, so you should check the profile of your chosen program for precise information. Depending on the program, you may need to prove your proficiency in English and/or German if you’re not a native speaker. There are no tuition fees at bachelor’s level at TUM, so you will only pay a semester fee of €129.40

TUM offers a range of consecutive master’s programs, continuing education master’s programs and some double degree programs, the latter of which allows you to gain a degree from both TUM and a partner institution. To apply for a master’s degree at TUM, you’ll need to complete an online application via your TUMonline account, including all the relevant documents. Part of the application process includes a two-step aptitude assessment procedure which involves the evaluation of your documents based on a points-based system. Candidates will be accepted, rejected or invited to an interview depending on their number of points.
