Tezpur University

The Tezpur University was established in 1994 by an Act of the Parliament as a teaching and residential central university with an objective to promote teaching-learning and research for advancement of knowledge and creation of human resources for the development of the state, region and the nation. Located on a 262-acre plot at Tezpur, Assam, the University currently has 21 departments and 12 Centres/Cells offering 70 carefully chosen academic programmes under four Schools of Studies viz., the Schools of Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Management Sciences, and Sciences. The chief features of the University are: Over 3700 students, 260 faculty members, 270 technical and administrative staff; Admission through JEE, MAT, CAT, GATE, CEEB, TUEE; ContinuousEvaluation and Choice-based Credit Transfer facility; fully ICT enabled campus; Central Library with e-library facilities; The 62-room Guesthouse; Training & placement assistance; Collaboration with various universities from UK; Germany; Netherlands; Finland etc. Received the President’s “Best University” award, 2016; Graded “A” by NAAC under UGC, India, 2016; Ranked within 601-800 in THE World University Ranking, 2016; Ranked 5th Among India’s Top100 Universities by MHRD through NIRF, 2016; MHRD’s Centre of Excellence to the Computer Science & Engg.; Fulbright-Nehru Research Fellowship; attended Lindau Nobel Laureates Meetings, ACS Green Chemistry award, President award, Commonwealth Fellowship etc.
