Tver State University is one of the largest scientific and educational centers in the Upper Volga Region. It was founded as a pedagogical school named after P. Maximovich in 1870. Today Tver State University comprises 15 faculties, 82 departments. There are about 9000 full-time students in TSU. In addition to it, there are about 500 foreign students. Responding actively to modern-day challenges, the institution of higher education is developing dynamically, while preserving fidelity to tradition. TSU ensures the preparation of highly qualified specialists in a sphere of physico-mathematical, natural, human and social sciences, as well as of education and pedagogy, economy and administration among other areas.
