Students at the University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) and Global Institute of Sport (GIS)  can utilise the unique learning and sporting environments in both the London and Manchester campuses – which have the iconic Wembley and Etihad stadiums at the heart of the institution.

GIS offers a ground-breaking Master’s degree portfolio utilising a global network of industry leaders and its elite stadium venues in the UK, US, Canada and Australia.

UCFB and GIS provide students with a stimulating curriculum on-campus, through online degree programs and at global hubs. Media, marketing, finance, psychology, coaching and event management, amongst others, are all sectors of sporting industries that are growing at a rate never seen before, with new roles being created on a daily basis.

UCFB and GIS believe there are three necessary requirements for a career in the football and sports industry: a degree, industry contacts and work experience on your CV.

Students learn from leading team of academics, as well as the necessary theory through books, research and presentations before hearing from industry guest speakers on the intricacies of their profession.

UCFB and GIS students are encouraged to go out in the industry and do it themselves. The Employability & Enrichment team provides students with numerous opportunities to apply for unique work experience roles in the UK and abroad.

UCFB’s Wembley campus at the heart of the UK’s capital offers a number of facilities including (but aren’t limited to):

Wembley Stadium – the heart of UCFB Wembley campus

The Hive, London – home to the UCFB Academy, Wembley

Vale Farm Sports Center – Vale Farm features a number of facilities including a 3G football pitch, tennis courts, state-of-the-art gym and sport hall for numerous sporting activities

Hendon FC – home to various UCFB football teams and a practical and theoretical teaching space for coaching programs

UCFB’s Etihad Campus boasts a state-of-the-art campus devoted to the football industry in the heart of Manchester – one of the world’s most famous footballing cities. UCFB and GIS students live, learn and work at the centre of one of Europe’s most progressive football facilities.

Facilities available at UCFB Etihad Campus include (but aren’t limited to):

Etihad Stadium - 55,000 capacity

Manchester Sports Village, Belle Vue - teaching location for all non-football students at UCFB Etihad Campus

National Basketball Center - located next to Manchester Sports Village, boasts three courts with markings for basketball and netball. It also includes a leisure centre, dance studio and community gym

Manchester Regional Arena – an eight-lane track and field arena with capacity for 6,500 spectators. Originally used as a warm-up area during the 2002 Commonwealth Games

UCFB and GIS students also can also study a distinctive degree online via the UCFB Online Hub.

From 2019/20, UCFB and GIS students and alumni have access to GIS’ annual summits at global study hubs (to enhance knowledge and expertise of the international sports industry) located in:

New York’s Red Bull Arena

Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Toronto FC’s BMO Field

Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)

Additionally, all students have access to the UCFB Global Insight Series, an elite on-campus and online networking and thought leadership series that provides digital publications, podcasts, videos and seminars, as well as access to exclusive guest speaker sessions with industry professionals.

UCFB and GIS also offers students the chance to gain valuable advice and guidance directly from the alumni services department, enabling them to talk to those with experience as a UCFB student – through alumni mentors and alumni ambassadors.

Students on UCFB and GIS' online degree programs are from a vast range of countries from across the globe, with 29 nationalities represented on campus.

Unite Students 1st Way, Wembley is in the heart of Wembley Park regeneration area, home to the world-famous football stadium and newly built retail outlet centre. Facilities include:

•En-suite rooms, studios, twodios and threedios will be available

•Large communal areas to socialize and study in

•Onsite gym and communal garden area

•24-hour security and on-site customer service and maintenance team  

Mill Point, Manchester makes it easy for students to settle in and make new friends. Students will be close to the UCFB Etihad Campus, as well as a host of tourist attractions and activities in the city.

92% of UCFB’s graduates are employed within six months of graduation, with two thirds of those working in sport – far above sports graduate averages.

In addition, 82% of Master’s graduates are employed within six months of graduation, with two thirds of those working in sport.

UCFB and GIS graduates work in the Premier League, at governing bodies and community clubs around the world, utilising their knowledge and skills across roles within the football and sports industry.

The careers team has dedicated careers coaches and assistant career coaches at both campuses that can support students in finding part-time work alongside their studies. At the start of the 18/19 year as part of fresher’s week we held a jobs fair and invited in local businesses who were actively recruiting students for part time work and will have a similar approach this year.

The careers team are available to students for additional support in finding opportunities and also support with applying for jobs by offering CV support, mock interview sessions etc.
