About Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (UACH)
.Despite its name, the Autonomous University of Chihuahua has nothing to do with the dog that bears the same name. In fact, it’s based in the city of Chihuahua in Mexico, where it was originally founded in 1954. The university has several campuses across the whole state of Chihuahua, which borders the US to the north.
17 faculties are located within the university, including faculties for Arts, Law, Chemistry, Dentistry, and Nursing and Nutrition. The university is also well-regarded on the sports field, with a successful American football team: Aguilas UACH. The side has twice won the National Conference trophy. There’s also a popular soccer team, Dorados Fuerza UACH, which actually plays in the third level of Mexican football. Other popular sports at the university include basketball, archery, martial arts and athletics.
The city of Chihuahua has a population of approximately 878,000 people and has one of the highest literacy rates in Mexico. Unlike other Mexican cities, Chihuahua is regarded as being relatively prosperous and is one of the country’s most industrialized cities. Companies based here include Ford Motor Co., Hallmark and LG Electronics.
