Dominican Republic


Surrounded by nearly 250 miles of coastline on the north, east and south, the Dominican Republic is known worldwide for pristine white sand beaches that are lapped by the warm blue waters of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. These distinct cultures still drive the social identity of the people today. Every aspect of the food, music, art, sports and religion provides a unique insight in to the development of their country. As the first city founded in the Americas, the Dominican Republic's capital city of San to Domingo boasts an incredible collection of museums, historic sites, art and music.

Universidad Central del Este (UCE) is located in the historical city of San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic. San Pedro de Macorís is in the southern eastern of Dominican Republic, just 60 kilometers away from the Dominican Republic´s capital city of Santo Domingo. San Pedro  is recognized by its architecture, sugar industry, Industrial park and the baseball major league players. San Pedro is located in the center of the touristic corridor, which includes  Juan Dolio, Bayahibe, Casa de Campo, Cap Cana y Punta Cana.

UCE has a branch  at Punta Cana with a focus in Toursim and Business that will open on May 2019. The programs that will be offered are Postgraduate Programs and Continued Education Courses.

UCE is well recognized for its orientation to professional practice since the first semester of any academic program until graduation.

Our main strengths are:

The main language of teaching at UCE is Spanish. However  Spanish immersion program as a Second Language os is offered. English taught programs in Punta Cana will be offered on 2019.

UCE Main Campus has a total area of 148,000m2, of which one third are constructions sites.  The buildings consist of five main blocks:

  • The Chancellors’ Building, where the Chancellor Office, some Vice-Chancellors Offices, Academic Coordination and the following Academic Departments: Medicine, Law, Management and Information System, Education, Engineering, Architecture, Teaching Development, as well as administrative office, - Registrar, Admissions, Student Services, Financial Aid, Human Resources, Purchasing, Finance and Audit.
  • Four buildings with a total of 126 classrooms, each with an average capacity for 60 students.   The Computer Center of the School of System Engineering is located as well.
  • Building III – Laboratories for Basic Sciences, Specialties, Research Center, Vice- Chancellor of Graduate Studies, and Department of Pharmacy and Dentistry.
  • Building IV – School of Law and Continuing Education.
  • Cultural and Sports Arena is a roofed building which has an area of 3,886m2. The sitting area has a capacity for 5,000 people.  It also has a softball field with an area of 10,000m2 in which inter and extramural tournaments take place.

UCE Punta Cana Campus has a total area of 2,241 m2.  It has 24 classrooms, 4 labs and 500 parking spaces.

  • Student Center: We offer to students, staff and faculty an area designed to enjoy refreshments and snacks. We also offer facilities for the acquisition of books, materials, instruments and / or articles related to the institution, photocopying services and more.
  • Counseling: Our guidance department provides the necessary assistance both vocational and psychological counseling to help our students to always give their best. 
  • Students Committee: Each school has a committee of students. This committee is elected for a period of one calendar year and has a student from each semester.
  • Financial Aid:  UCE participant in the Federal Student Loans Program of the U.S. Department of Education. These loans are an available as a student aid to U.S. citizens or permanent residents who choose to UCE pursue a career. Our School Code is G10977.  There are private loans options available as well.
  • Wi-Fi:  We have free wireless internet in our main campus.
  • Library: We have a large bibliographic stock consists of books, specialized magazines and thesis literature used as a support for different careers which are offered. This large bibliographic stock is available online and offline.
  • Digital Platforms to offer different online services to students.

At the moment, 5% of our student body is international.  There are 17 nationalities represented on campus.

Students participate in different sporting activities like: Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Basketball, Karate, Ping Pong, Volleyball, Chess and others.

Students also take part in cultural programs like: traditional Dominican dance, Choir, Mime, Music band, and others.

Students live off campus. UCE provides information to students in reference to reliable rental opportunities near campus.  The university is located along Avenida Francisco A. Caamaño Deñó, San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic.
