Prospective postgraduate students at UPR are required to have the following admission requirements:
A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
Good command of Spanish and English
One of the following indices for your bachelor’s degree (on a scale where A = 4.00):
General graduation rate of 2.50 or more.
General specialty index of 3.00 or more.
Index of 3.00 or more in a minimum of 60 credits approved during the last five semesters of undergraduate studies

The tuition fees for American and International students are the same. Students pay $190 per credit for master’s programs and $200 per credit for doctoral programs.
Apart from the cost per enrolled credit, all students pay:
Technology fee: $25 per semester or summer session
Maintenance fee: $47 for each semester
Laboratory fee: $100 for each course with laboratory
Medical insurance: approximately $1,112 per year per basic coverage
Students may qualify to receive Graduate Assistantship such as Teaching, Research or Service Assistantship.
Any assistance with institutional funds includes exemption from tuition payment while if the assistance is with external funds, then the exemption from tuition payment will be subject to the type of research project.
Student loans as well as study and work programs are available.
