Universidad Galileo is a private school founded on October 31st, 2000. The Universidad Galileo promotes the development of human thought to revolutionize higher education. The University’s mission is to train students to become professionals excelling at academics, and possessing the human and ethical values to serve society; all while incorporating contemporary science and technology. The Universidad Galileo aims to produce graduates who solve the prevailing problems in the Guatemalan community by harnessing modern sciences and technologies.
The primary focus of the university and its specialty are the technical programs offered on campus. The university has seven vocational schools namely in the arts, continuing education, diplomacy and international relations, health sciences, technical, public image, and professional development. The university boasts an academic staff of 20,000 as of 2012. The degree programs offered by the university are diverse. The Institute for Sustainable Development offers Masters and PhD programs in Sustainable Development Strategies.
