Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico

The Inter American University of Puerto Rico, commonly known as INTER, is a private, nonprofit higher education institution. Reverend John Will Harris founded the institution in 1912, originally as an elementary and secondary school, although the first class to graduate from a Bachelor’s Degree was in 1927.

Not only has INTER, prepared its students in all branches of humanistic, social and scientific knowledge for over 100 years, but it has also served as a bridge between the North American and Latin American cultures.

At the University, it is our mission to offer postsecondary and higher education in the arts and sciences through teaching, investigation, and community service, within an ecumenical context. We also provide educational programs at the pre-school, elementary, and secondary levels.

It is within our goals to provide diversity in the programs and services offered at the undergraduate, graduate, occupational, and professional levels in accordance to the changing needs of the student population and society at large. At the same time, we are committed to ensure that the faculty support, student services, and student activity programs operate with the academic program in a way that promotes the holistic education of the student.

At present, INTER has an enrollment of over 35,000 students.
