Universidad Panamericana de Guatemala is a private Christian university. Since its founding in 1999, it has continuously demonstrated its desire to be a major contributor in the development of higher education at both a national and international level.  

The university has four main campuses based in Guatemala City with another eight campuses located nationwide. It’s home to over 17,000 students and 45 degree programs, including bachelor’s, master’s, PhDs, professorships, as well as distance-learning programs which allows total learning flexibility for those who aren’t able to commit to on-campus degree programs.

Although the main language of instruction at the university is Spanish, the university’s Faculty of Languages allows students and university faculty members to learn an additional language, such as English, German or French.

There are a number of facilities and services available at the Universidad Panamericana de Guatemala, including:

  • The Virtual Library – a 24/7 service where students have access to over 20,000 e-books.
  • UPANA Virtual – every student to stay up-to-date with their studies as this allows them to study anytime, anyplace on any device.
  • Blackboard – this online platform allows students to access all of their course information, create video chats with lecturers and class cohort, as well as upload assignments and completed reading tasks.
  • Rehusilsa – this supports students as well as the general public by promoting job opportunities with various companies, businesses and enterprises via the university’s website for free: https://trabajoytalento.com.gt/
  • Careers fairs – these are held at the university’s headquarters in alliance with several of its various schools, including the business school (ENAN), school in Petén (CEP) as well as the social assistance center (CAS).

Counselling services, health care services, as well as educational workshops are also being introduced throughout the coming academic year.

Universidad Panamericana de Guatemala welcomes students from all over the world. The majority of students at the university are from Guatemala, however, there are also a number of international students who are from Colombia, Honduras, Nicaragua, San Salvador, Perú, Costa Rica, Belize, Brazil, and the United States.

Students live in private accommodation off-campus which is near the university’s main hubs and attractions.

If you’re an international student who’s considering applying to the Universidad Panamericana de Guatemala, you’ll need to submit the following:

  • Scanned copy of passport
  • Scanned copy of ID
  • Original and scanned copy of birth certificate
  • Original and scanned copy of high school diploma certificate

You will also need to request that your high school diploma, bachelor’s or master’s degree is recognized and certified by the Education Ministry of Guatemala.

Currently, there are no scholarships offered for international students. There are, however, a number of financial services available.

Since 1967, the Universidad Panamericana de Guatemala has graduated over 30,000 students. There are also a number of plans underway for the university to host particular activities and offer specialized services to connect with former students.
