The Postgraduate Program in Cardiology Senso Estrito of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo comprises a set of programmed, advanced and individualized activities, accompanied by a supervisor, which include and privilege teaching and research, always seeking the integration of knowledge . It must be understood as a system of intellectual formation and, at the same time, of knowledge production in each area of ​​knowledge. This program is based at the Instituto do Coração (InCor) of the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP. 

To achieve these objectives, the program in Cardiology receives as students, medical professionals and individuals from other professional backgrounds, with links or sent by university and non-university institutions, linked to the Health System, or to research and teaching centers and with affinities to the Cardiology. Receiving multidisciplinary professionals is highly beneficial for the development of basic research in the program's research projects.

The presentation of the candidate for the selection test must, obligatorily, be carried out by a Professor accredited as a program advisor.

At the end of the course, after approval in the disciplines, general qualification exam and defense of the thesis, the student will receive the title of Doctor of Sciences by the FMUSP Cardiology Program.
