It is a well-established PhD program, dating back to the year 1983, and one of the biggest at the University of Pavia. Originally focused on Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, it subsequently incorporated the area of Electrical Engineering, thus offering a truly multidisciplinary coverage of a broad spectrum of Electrical and Computer Engineering topics. Study programs are structured along three curricula, each of which focuses on up-to-date research subjects: Photonics and Space Communication Systems, Computer Science and Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering. In these areas, the PhD course offers advanced research courses which are dedicated to emerging research topics and monographic subjects, while cooperation agreements with high-tech companies foster direct experience in technological innovation. The academic steering  board includes several professors affiliated to foreign universities of high reputation. This feature strengthens the international character of the course and facilitates the mobility of scholars and research students. The Electrical Engineering track is an international curriculum in cooperation with the Lodz University of Technology.

Admission Requirements

Applicants may apply for a PhD program without nationality restrictions if, at the cut-off date of the call for applications, they have obtained one of the following degrees:
·      Bachelor’s degree obtained according to the relevant regulations before the entry into force of Ministerial Decree no. 509/1999
·      Specialization degree (Ministerial Decree no. 509/1999)
·      Master’s degree (Ministerial Decree no. 270/2004) or eligible foreign qualification.
