Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU)

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) is a private university affiliated with Muhammadiyah Organization was established in 1957. UMSU has 15785 students, 9 Faculties, and 1 Graduate School with the support of more than 1191 faculty members as well as good facilities for students to learn and interact with a high academic atmosphere.

UMSU is located in Medan, a city that has good access to everywhere and it is connected to various natural and beautiful places such as Lake Toba. Furthermore, Medan is a city that adequately describes the diversity of Indonesia, which is shown by the harmony that is maintained between ethnicities and also known as a culinary tourism destination which will certainly pamper people’s desire for delicious food and unforgettable experiences.

UMSU has the vision to be a university that excels in building the nation's civilization by developing science, technology, and human resources based on Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah values. As an Institution, UMSU has been achieved an A Accreditation by the Indonesian Higher Education Accreditation Board (BAN-PT) and become the first and the only Private Higher Education Institution that achieved this predicate in the Sumatra Island and the 2nd institution in Indonesia outside the Java Island.

In the student creativity and innovation Program during 2019, 2020 and 2021, UMSU becomes the first position of the University in North Sumatra which obtained Funding From The Ministry of Education, Culture, Higher Education, And Research of Indonesia. Realizing that UMSU cannot be alone in facing a challenging future, UMSU continues to transform by collaborating with various parties, be it fellow universities, industry, local governments, strategic partners not only in Indonesia but also abroad.

UMSU, in implementing the Islamic values in society, has accelerated its contribution by building the Astronomy Observatory. This Observatory has been used by not only Moslem scholars but also the official government of Indonesia to determined Hijri calendar (Moslem calendar) based on the hisab and astronomy science-. Eventually, UMSU is Always Committed to contributing to the development of Indonesia through Teaching, Research, and Community Services. All of these reasons made Medan and UMSU become a comfortable place for the student to build their dream and future.
