a non-political status, established in 1864. UB is one of the most important
higher education institutions in Romania, with the mission of knowledge transfer through three components: training,
research and a contribution to the development of the Romanian society.UB provides educational services and research activity of

permanent internal preoccupation for quality, interdisciplinary collaboration,

Since
the 1990s, UB has undergone a complex process of revival, setting up new faculties
and study programs, reorganizing and redefining priorities of the institutional
development. In 2000, UB comprised 18 faculties and over 20,000 students. At
present, UB includes 19 faculties and over 33,000 students of which approximately
35% are enrolled in the master's and doctoral programs. At the same time, UB is
one of the most important research centers in the country, currently comprising
over 50 institutes, departments, research centers, and 5 research platforms.

has several offices in Bucharest, most of them located in the city center but also
includes centers and resorts such as those of Orşova, Sinaia, Ţara Haţegului.
UB offers numerous programmes of study, at all
levels and within all forms of university training: 97 undergraduate degree
programmes in 32 domanins, 215 Master's degree programmes, 22 doctoral schools,
professional conversion and improvement programmes. All programmes offered by
the UB are accredited or authorized. The Bachelor’s Degree may be followed
by a Master’s, characterized by in-depth study, undertaken in a critical
spirit, and leading to openings in research or leadership in various
organizations. Doctoral and postdoctoral studies benefit from significant
financing.
Internationalization has been a
priority in the development strategy of the UB, currently having bilateral
cooperation agreements with foreign universities form 39 countries, which generate
joint events, such as conferences, lectures held by invited professors,
research, courses. UB strives to be connected to the labor market. It
constantly analyzes the developments and the trends in the labor market,
contributing with new areas of qualification and (pre)specialization that can
facilitate the professional integration of graduates. Tracking students’ and
graduates’ has become an objective for better understanding of the career paths
and subject for institutional development.
The UB has set as a priority the
development of its research activity and has acted accordingly by providing the
community with the best conditions for increasing and enriching research
findings: developing the research base, projects, articles, citations etc.The most important financial resources are currently
generating from institutional competitive participation in the EEA, H2020 and
Eranet programs. Most articles have been published in ISI-rated journals in the
following scientific fields: Materials Science, Chemistry and Physics.

which is a transnational collaboration of civic universities, fostering

space for innovative and responsible teaching, research, cultural exchanges and
citizen action within Europe, from Baltic to Mediterranean Sea, while engaging
with the world, its inhabitants and its institutions. Within CIVIS, many
actions have been carried out successfully in many areas, such as the
innovative pedagogyand Open Lab, the
latter being a collaborative network in which different university units work
closely with different stakeholders in order to identify local needs and find
solution to jointly address to them. In the first Open Lab call for projects, 3
applications (out of 14) were successful and they refer to the following
domains: Sustainability and Urban Resilience, Education and Culture and Digital
Transformation.
