The University of Carthage (UCAR) is a public multidisciplinary university in the old roman City of Amilcar in Tunisia. Founded in 1988 as the University of Law, Economics, and Management Tunis III, it becomes later, in 2011, the University of Carthage.
Nearly three-quarters of our 32,100 students pursue undergraduate studies, most of whom enroll in the faculty of sciences. Our six campuses offer our students a choice of study programs in five disciplines: Social Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Arts & Humanities. The University of Carthage is made up of 38 institutions of higher education and research distributed over five governorates (Tunis, Ariana, Nabeul, Bizerte, Zaghouan):
12 Engineering higher Schools
21 higher Institutes
02 research center specialized in water, material and agronomic sciences
Academically, the University of Carthage is acknowledged among the best universities in Tunisia. Its Higher engineering school of Communications (SUP'COM) and Institute of Higher Commercial Studies of Carthage (IHEC) are both highly regarded, as are its law faculty and the Polytechnic School of Tunisia (EPT). It also includes the oldest prestigious school of engineers of the country namely the National Institute of Agronomy of Tunis (INAT) founded in 1898.
At the University of Carthage, we remain convinced that we live in a very diverse world and that this diversity must be reflected in our classrooms and our campuses. We believe that the training of future graduates who are our current students should be extended in addition to the technical aspects of the specialty of training in the various cultural aspects of society where they will practice later. This is how we rely on the environment of a diversified modern class, which represents a mini-society, to ensure the success of such cultural training. Thus, we are open to welcome more international students, currently 240 from over 20 different countries in Africa and around the world. The University of Carthage has more than 150 conventions and memorandum of understandings with leading African and international institutions from 5 continents.
