University of Da Nang

Established in 1994, the University of Danang (UD) is now the biggest university in Central Vietnam. UD consists 11 member universities and affiliated training units and is a multi-level, multi-disciplinary university with the main strengths in Engineering, Technology, Economics, Education and Foreign Languages. For nearly 45 years, UD has provided the Central-Highlands region and the whole country with a large resource of leaders, managers, experts and entrepreneurs in many key fields of engineering - technology, economics - law, social sciences and humanities, education, language - culture, medicine. Alumni, postgraduate students and PhD students of UD are successful and have held key positions and responsibilities in agencies, organizations, schools and businesses that have contributed significantly to the socio - economic development of the region and the country.

UD is also one of the very first educational institutions in Vietnam that have engaged in the national higher education accreditation system and has 24 educational programs accredited internationally (as of 03/2021). Four member universities of the UD have been recognized to reach the national accreditation standard (10/2016). Moreover, the UD-University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT) has become one of four universities in Vietnam to reach the international accreditation standard by the French High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCÉRES).

UD has continuously expanded collaboration with domestic and international partners and is also a member of different organizations and international university networks. Till 2020, UD has established long-lasting relationships and signed 367 MoUs (Memorandum of understanding) with more than 250 international prestigious partners such as Australia, Belgium, Cambodia, the Czech Republic, Canada, China, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Laos, Lithuania, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States of America, etc…

UD has hosted many international research projects:

1. More than 9 projects funded in the framework of Erasmus + Key Action 2 - Capacity building in higher education (ICTentr, HUB4GROWTH, HR4ASIA, V2WORK, MONTUS, MESFIA, EMVITET, Digi-CHE-Asia, MOMA etc);
2. More than 10 projects funded by ERASMUS +, Key Action 1 for Higher Education International Credit Mobility; 3 projects funded by USAID (BUILD-IT in STEM fields; Maker Innovation Space, COMET etc);
3. Projects funded by AUF, JICA, KOICA, Newton Fund, British Council, Vietnam-Ireland Bilateral Exchange (VIBE), Corporations (Microsoft, Sun Frontier, Tate Lyle, JFE, Roll-Royce, etc.)

Over recent years, UD has always ranked high amongst Viet Nam’s top universities; especially two consecutive years (2020 & 2021) in the top 401-450 Asian best universities according to QS Asia University Rankings.

With the orientation to develop UD into a research university, the research activities have been promoted in line with technology transfer to serve the community needs and interests. Regarding the international publication, on average, there are nearly 800 international articles every year, of which nearly 200 are in prestigious ISI and SCOPUS lists. Additionally, UD has been effectively operating 33 Teaching-Research Teams (TRT); investing and developing asynchronous and efficient infrastructure with a number of research centers, modern laboratories and deploying many works and inventions (26 patents that have been registered for intellectual property).

With the mission and great responsibility trusted by the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training, UD has been continuing to affirm its international quality and prestige, making an important contribution to the process of internationalization and innovation in the national higher education.
