Overview of the University of Information Technology and Communications (UOITC)

The University of Information Technology and Communications (UOITC) is the first university in Iraq and the region dedicated exclusively to Information Technology and Communications (ICT). Established in the 2014/2015 academic year, UOITC was founded to address the growing demand for specialized education and research in the rapidly evolving IT sector. The university plays a crucial role in advancing Iraq’s digital transformation by offering cutting-edge programs that integrate ICT with various disciplines.

Colleges and Institutes

UOITC comprises one postgraduate institute and three specialized colleges that provide a diverse range of academic programs:

1. Informatics Institute for Postgraduate Studies

   • Offers master’s and PhD programs in ICT fields.
   • Focuses on advanced research and innovative solutions in information technology.

2. College of Business Informatics (Founded in 2014)

   • Bridges the gap between business management and information technology.
   • Includes two departments:
     • Informatics Systems Management
     • Business Information Technology

3. College of Engineering (Founded in 2017)

   • Prepares students for careers in mobile communications, computing, and media technology.
   • Includes two departments:
     • Mobile Communications and Computing Engineering
     • Media Technology and Communications Engineering

4. College of Medical Informatics (Founded in 2019)

   • Integrates biomedical sciences with IT to enhance healthcare systems and research.
   • Includes two departments:
     • Intelligent Medical Systems
     • Bioinformatics
