Established in 2022 under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi,  Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the University of Khorfakkan (UKF) combines academic excellence with the unique advantages of its coastal location. Positioned at the forefront of marine sciences and innovation, UKF is committed to developing future leaders through transformative education, impactful research, and meaningful community engagement.

UKF comprises five colleges:

To ensure a globally relevant educational experience, UKF collaborates with leading international institutions, including the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, particularly in the field of marine sciences. These partnerships enrich teaching, research, and knowledge exchange while strengthening the University's international outlook.

UKF's campus is designed to support innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and applied research. A key milestone in the University's development is the establishment of the Sharjah Marine Science Research Centre (SMSRC). Developed through an investment exceeding AED 100 million, the Centre became fully operational in 2025 and is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities dedicated to advancing marine and environmental sciences.
